Separated Liquid–Vapor Flow Analysis in a Mini-Channel with Mesh Walls in the Closed-Loop Two-Phase Wicked Thermosyphon (CLTPWT)

A metallic wire mesh screen, diameter of approximately 50 μm, is folded into ~80 “accordion-shaped” mini-channels and placed inside the evaporator package a novel passive thermal management device for cooling overhead light-emitting diodes (LEDs) used in factory floors high-bay facilities. The power dissipated via these devices ranges between 75 W 171 W. channel walls (screen) wick liquid water from porous (located centrally above screen) facilitate its evaporation. closed-loop tests on this confirm that two-phase mixture quality exiting 0.2. This paper presents steady-state numerical model separated liquid–vapor flow single mini-rectangular (900 μm × 2000 4 cm long) with mesh-screen walls. primary objective to estimate pressure drops occurring flow. initially assumes flat interface along uses an iterative approach final meniscus shape (curvature). In addition temperature distribution screen walls, also discusses velocity distributions both vapor regions. It helps understand interfacial shear configuration proposes flow-limiting condition by predicting reversal channel.
